In a strategic move to hedge against rising energy volatility and reduce their carbon footprint, the Kelly Group Training Centre in Bristol partnered with GGRS Energie to deploy a comprehensive solar solution. By utilising the available roof space, the centre now benefits from a significant on-site electrical generating capability with modelling indicating annual savings of approximately £16,700 subject to usage patterns and energy prices.
As a high-output training facility, the Kelly Group faced substantial electricity costs. With large roof areas available, the objective was to design a system that could generate on-site energy to offset peak daytime usage and achieve a payback period that made financial sense for the business.
GGRS Energie designed and installed two distinct solar PV arrays tailored to the specific dimensions and energy profiles of the main and training buildings.
Phase 1: The Main Building
The larger of the two installations focused on the primary facility, maximising the surface area with high-efficiency modules.
Capacity: 61.16 kWp Hardware: 139 x 440W high-performance solar panels.
Inverter: 1 x Solis-60K-S5-GC (Commercial Grade).
Performance: Estimated annual yield of 40,374 kWh.
Financial Impact: Projected annual savings of £10,405.43.
Phase 2: The Training Building
To complement the main system, the training building was equipped with a secondary array designed for optimised low-voltage performance.
Capacity: 35.20 kWp
Hardware: 80 x JAM54D40-440/LV (Bifacial/High-Durability) 440W panels.
Inverter: 1 x Solis S5-GC40k.
Performance: Estimated annual yield of 29,920 kWh.
Financial Impact: Projected annual savings of £6,336.87.
The combined 96.36 kWp system represents a major leap forward in the centre’s sustainability journey.
Total Modelled Annual Savings: £16,742.30
Estimated Payback Period: As little as 5 years.
Projected Clean Energy Generation: Over 70,000 kWh of green electricity produced annually.
By selecting high-quality hardware like Solis inverters and 440W modules, the Kelly Group has ensured long-term reliability and significant protection against future energy price hikes.
